Independent filmmakers are increasingly exploring new financing models, and brand partnerships have emerged as a promising path for ambitious, impact-driven storytelling.

This panel explores how filmmakers and brands can collaborate in ways that support authenticity and real-world impact, using The Price of Milk as a case study – a four-part investigative series that uncovers the hidden story behind the iconic ‘Got Milk?’ campaign. Premiering at Tribeca 2025 and funded by Oatly while remaining fully filmmaker-led, the project demonstrates how brand support can enable journalistic, cinematic documentary when the right guardrails are in place.

The conversation will unpack how these partnerships are structured, how trust and editorial independence are safeguarded, and how filmmakers and brands can work responsibly together to tell stories that build credibility, engage audiences, and shift culture.

    Speakers:

    • Nicholas Bruckman – Emmy®-nominated Director; CEO, People’s Television; Co-Creator of The Price of Milk
    • Yoni Brook – Peabody Award-winning Director and Cinematographer; Co-Creator of The Price of Milk
    • Brian Newman – Producer and Strategic Consultant, Sub-Genre
