Impact storytelling usually asks: How do we bring science into culture? This session, presented by the Doris Duke Foundation’s Indigenous-Led Conservation program, turns that question around: What happens when knowledge embedded in culture isn’t recognized as science?

For generations, Tribal Nations have used rigorous, place-based systems to anticipate environmental change and care for their lands. Yet these proven climate solutions are often dismissed as tradition rather than recognized as expertise.

CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir joins Indigenous conservation leaders for a “live forecast” reading the conditions facing a real landscape, tracing generations of knowledge and spotlighting solutions already at work. Together, they’ll explore how storytellers can build recognition of Indigenous methods without stripping away their cultural foundations or seeking Western validation, helping ensure Tribal Nations have the resources and authority to lead towards a more resilient climate future for us all.
