Following the Tribeca premiere of March Forth, join Reginald Dwayne Betts and filmmakers Robe Imbriano and Valerie Hong for a conversation about storytelling, transformation, and the power of art to challenge perceptions. The documentary traces Betts’ journey from incarceration in an adult prison at age sixteen to becoming an acclaimed poet, author, lawyer, activist, and MacArthur Fellow.

Through a blend of memoir, performance, poetry, and film, March Forth examines the lasting impact of incarceration while challenging audiences to reconsider ideas of identity, redemption, and possibility. The discussion will explore how storytelling can illuminate lived experiences often overlooked, reshape public narratives around justice, and create space for empathy, reflection, and change.

The conversation will be followed by a live spoken-word performance from Reginald Dwayne Betts and his band, bringing the themes of the film to life through poetry and music.

Speakers:

  • Reginald Dwayne Betts
  • Robe Imbriano, Co-Director, MARCH FORTH (Tribeca Film Festival Official Selection)
