Stay Salty: Storytelling, Community, and the Fight for the Great Salt Lake
Tuesday, January 27th
1:00PM - 2:00PM
As the Great Salt Lake reaches a critical tipping point, local storytellers, community members, and advocates are using the power of strategic narrative to protect what remains and imagine a more just future for the Great Salt Lake Basin. Amid a collapsing ecosystem, how can stories help us understand how we got here and where we are going? This panel explores how podcasts, films, and place-based storytelling ground audiences in the lived realities of this ecological and cultural crisis while connecting local struggles to broader movements for environmental justice, Indigenous knowledge, and climate action.
Speakers:
- Amelia Diehl, Writer & Organizer on climate justice & social movements
- Katherine Quaid, Communications Director, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) International
- Jeri Gravlin, Social Media Manager and Photographer at Salt Lake City Public Library
- Meisei Gonzalez, Environmental Justice Advocate
